Eating a fish can have many benefits for your diet

Fatty Fish are Good for You!

If you want to reduce your risk of many of Americas leading diseases (and shed a few pounds), one of the most important things you can do is to increase your intake of omega 3 fatty acids. These super fats, most commonly found in fish are essential for optimal health and the research on their numerous health benefits is growing rapidly.  Don’t let the word ‘fatty’ scare you off from incorporating fish into your diet – you need some fat in your diet, and these fish provide the best type of it.

Benefits of Omega 3

Men who eat fish regularly can reduce their risk of dying suddenly from a heart attack by up to 30% and women who eat the most fish can cut the risk of heart attack by 29% and stoke by up to 50%.  People who tend to eat more fish are also at a much less risk of becoming obese.

Omega 3’s may also help with depression, alzheimer’s, rheumatoid arthritis and fertility, just to name a few things. The best fish to eat are the fattiest, including, salmon, tuna, mackerel and anchovies. You can also get omega 3’s from flake seed and walnuts and if you’re not a fish eater or worried about mercury or pcb’s you can always take fish oil capsules, but always consult with your doctor to make sure a fish oil supplement is safe for you and to determine the correct dose for your individual health needs.

So, focus a little on omega 3’s and your health will benefit a lot
